Quinnipiac beats Vermont 80-67
BURLINGTON, Vt. -- Ike Azotam scored 18 points and pulled down 13 rebounds as Quinnipiac beat Vermont 80-67 on Sunday.
Umar Shannon had 16 points for the Bobcats (6-3), Ousmane Drame, Kasim Chandler added 14 apiece and Zaid Hearst finished with 11 points and 11 boards. Quinnipiac controlled the glass 41-26.
Vermont (3-7) trailed 23-19, but only made three field goals in the last 5 minutes of the first half and fell behind 41-26 at halftime.
Hector Harold's basket with 11:51 left made it 47-39, but Vermont would not get any closer. Quinnipiac made 11 of 12 free throws in the final 2 minutes.
Sandro Carissimo made just 6 of 15 shots but finished with a team-high 13 points. Clancy Rugg, Brian Voelkel had 12 each and Luke Apfeld added 11 for the Catamounts. It was Vermont's first game in the past 15 days, following a seven-game road trip.
