Rider pulls away late from Quinnipiac, 90-78
LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. -- Daniel Stewart scored 25 points, one of three Rider players to score 20-plus, as the Broncos beat Quinnipiac 90-78 on Sunday.
Rider led by 10 with 4:55 left, but a 6-0 Quinnipiac run made it 77-73 with 2:46 remaining. Rider answered with a 9-0 spurt, including a Jimmie Taylor 3-pointer and three Stewart free throws, to secure the win.
Rider led 37-32 at halftime and started the second half on a 10-3 run, en route to scoring 53 second half points.
Taylor had 21 and Anthony Myles added 20 for Rider (4-4). The Broncs only turned the ball over five times and made 45.3 percent of their shots, including 7 of 18 from long range.
Ike Azotam scored 24 points for Quinnipiac (5-3) and Shaq Shannon added 18 points, seven assists. The Bobcats made 8 of 23 shots from 3-point range, four coming from Zaid Hearst on just six attempts.
