Canisius takes control in 93-78 win over Siena
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Billy Baron scored 21 points and had 13 assists to lead Canisius to a 93-78 victory over Siena on Sunday.
Dominique Raney added 19 points, Zach Lewis contributed 18 and Jordan Heath had 15 for the Golden Griffins, who took control early in the first half to build a lead that was never challenged. Canisius (5-3, 2-0 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) shot 49 percent from the field, hitting 15 of 26 from 3-point range, and took advantage of a 9-17 turnover margin in the MAAC matchup.
Siena (3-8, 1-1) took a 7-6 lead early in the first half on a 3-pointer by Rob Poole, the only shot from beyond the arc that would land for the Saints. Canisius then retook the lead for good, carrying a 21-point advantage into the break, 57-36, and protecting in the second half.
Brett Bisping led Siena with 17 points and nine rebounds.
