LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. -- Peter Hooley scored a game-high 24 points as Albany jumped out to an early lead and held on to defeat Rider 70-59 on Tuesday night.

Hooley finished with 14 points in the first half as Rider trailed 32-16. Seven minutes into the second half, the Great Danes (3-3) had stretched their lead to 23. Rider responded with a 19-6 run that cut the deficit to 49-41 with 7:20 to play. The Broncs couldn't come closer than an eight-point margin for the rest of the game.

Hooley made five 3-pointers for the Great Danes, who finished with seven total. Rider (1-3) went 0 for 6 from behind the arc in the first half, and finished with three 3-pointers in the second. Jimmie Taylor shot 7 of 10 (70 percent) for the Broncs and scored 17 points.
