South Dakota State Jackrabbits @ Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons
Luis Jacobo leads IPFW past South Dakota St. 82-75
FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Luis Jacobo tied a season high by scoring 24 points to lead Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne past South Dakota State 82-75 Saturday night.
Pierre Bland's layup with 12:51 left gave IPFW (14-5, 2-0 Summit League) a 57-56 lead and sparked an 8-0 run by the Mastodons, who wouldn't trail again.
Chad White hit a 3-point shot with 3:22 remaining, pulling South Dakota State (9-8, 1-1) within 74-70, but IPFW's Steve Forbes responded with a conventional three-point play and following a missed jumper by Cody Larson, Mo Evans knocked down a pair of free throws to extend the IPFW lead to nine and the Mastodons held on from there.
IPFW dominated the interior, out-rebounding the Jackrabbits 12-4 on the offensive glass while out-scoring them 12-4 on second-chance opportunities. IPFW held a 42-16 advantage in points in the paint.
Brayden Carlson scored a career-high 24 points to pace SDSU.
Forbes finished with 16.
