San Diego defeats South Dakota State 74-70

SAN DIEGO -- Johnny Dee scored 27 points and made a 3-pointer to start a game-ending 8-0 run that lifted San Diego to a 74-70 victory over South Dakota State in their season openers Friday night.
Trailing 70-66 with 1:50 remaining, Dee hit his sixth 3-pointer of the night to pull the Toreros within one.
South Dakota State's next two possessions resulted in a missed 3 by Brayden Carlson and a turnover. Duda Sanadze hit the go-ahead basket to give the Toreros a 71-70 lead with 1 minute left. The Jackrabbits missed another shot with 32 seconds left before sending USD to the line to end the game.
Sanadze finished with 14 points.
Jake Bittle made all three of his 3-point attempts for South Dakota State and finished with 18 points.
