Murray State in tight game beats Evansville 65-63
MURRAY, Ky. -- Jeffery Moss scored 20 points and hit his fifth 3-point jumper of the game inside the final minute to snap a tie and push Murray State to a 65-63 victory over Evansville Wednesday night.
Five 3s in a game is a season high for Moss, who broke a 61-61 tie with 51 seconds left. He added a free throw with eight seconds to play after Evansville (5-3) had closed to 64-63. The game was close throughout, but the second half saw five ties and 10 lead changes as Murray State (3-5) overcame 10 first-half turnovers to end a three-game skid.
Evansville's D.J. Balentine scored 19 of his 25 points after halftime, four times forging a lead or tie in the final 9:50. Balentine also dished eight of Evansville's 11 assists.
Cameron Payne added 14 points for Murray State (3-5). Jarvis Williams snagged 16 of the Racers' 32 rebounds.
