Duquesne overwhelms Texas Pan-American 88-69
EDINBURG, Texas -- Ovie Soko scored 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting to lead Duquesne to an 88-69 victory over Texas-Pan American on Sunday.
The Dukes (6-5) took control of the game with a 22-4 run midway through the first half that included back-to-back 3-pointers by Micah Mason in building a lead that was never challenged. Mason contributed 14 points in the win, while Jeremiah Jones added 11 and Tra' Vaugh White 10.
Hitting 34 of 68 from the floor, it was the third straight game Duquesne has shot at least 50 percent.
The Broncs (4-5) quickly fell behind in the opening minutes before battling back to tie it at 15 on a Shaquille Hines jumper with 12:39 to go in the first half. But it was the last time Texas Pan-Am would challenge the Dukes in the game.
Hines led the Broncs with 27 points and Javorn Farrell added 20.
