Texas-Pan American defeats Lamar 66-61
BEAUMONT, Texas -- Shaquille Hines scored 18 points with 11 rebounds and two assists to lead Texas-Pan American to a 66-61 victory over Lamar on Wednesday night.
Javorn Farrell went 8 of 14 from the field and 5 of 9 from the line for a game-high 22 points and seven rebounds. Jamal Dantzler came off the bench to score 10 points and grab five rebounds for the Broncs (4-4).
Texas-Pan American started slowly and trailed by two at the break. But the Broncs pulled ahead early in the second period -- and maintained the lead -- on the shooting accuracy of Hines and Farrell. Shaquille Boga sank two free throws for the Broncs with 13 seconds remaining in play to end the Cardinals' hopes.
Texas-Pan American hit 46.3 percent from the field and 51.7 percent from the line.
Amos Wilson led the Cardinals (1-6) with 15 points, eight rebounds and three blocks.
