Princeton wins in overtime over Lafayette 81-80
PRINCETON, N.J. -- Will Barrett scored 22, including 7 in overtime, as Princeton outlasted Lafayette 81-80 Wednesday night.
Princeton held a 68-63 lead with 1:42 left to play, but Lafayette scored the last five points of regulation to send it to overtime tied at 68.
Princeton never trailed in overtime as Will Barrett made two free-throws to take the lead 81-78 with 8 seconds left. Lafayette made consecutive free-throws to cut the lead to 81-80. With 1 second left, Nick Linder stole the in-bound pass, but was unable to get off a shot in time.
Ben Hazel and Spencer Weisz had 14 points each for the Tigers (2-1).
Seth Hinrichs led all scorers with 27 for Lafayette (0-3) and Dan Trist added 19 points, nine rebounds.
Lafayette shot 58 percent for the game including 6-of-11 from 3. Princeton shot 45 percent, but had twice as many 3-pointers, going 12-of 26 from 3.
