Colgate defeats Cornell 81-58
Hamilton, N.Y. -- Murphy Burnatowski scored a game-high 19 points to help power Colgate over Cornell 81-58 on Wednesday night.
Ethan Jacobs assisted in the victory, scoring 15 points on 9-of-12 shooting, in Colgate's (1-2) home opener, giving them its first win of the season.
Colgate jumped out to an early 7-6 lead and never looked back en route to handing Cornell (0-5) its 11th straight loss dating back to last season.
Colgate out-played Cornell in all facets of the game, shooting 54 percent from the field, compared to a 22-55 performance from the Big Red. Colgate also finished with an 11-for-22 effort from 3-point range, while Cornell posted a dismal 4-for-19.
Cornell's Nolan Cressler finished with 19 points, and Devin Cherry added 12 for the Big Red.
