Hook's 3-pointer lifts Tulane past Marshall 68-65
NEW ORLEANS -- Jay Hook, who finished with 11 points, drilled a go-ahead 3-pointer with 1.1 seconds left to help Tulane hold off Marshall 68-65 on Sunday.
The Green Wave (13-11, 5-4 Conference USA) shot 45.8 percent from the field and went 8 of 16 beyond the arc. Jonathan Stark had 17 points with six assists, while Louis Dabney and Payton Henson each chipped in 14 points.
Marshall (8-17, 2-8) was paced by Chris Thomas with 21 points. Kareem Canty had 16 points and Cheikh Sane added 11.
Tulane moved out to a 53-38 lead in the second half, but the Thundering Herd stormed back with a 25-10 run capped by a Sane layup to tie it at 63 with 1:16 left.
After a Stark layup and two free throws by Thomas, Tulane ran the clock down to set up Hook's game-winner, and Marshall couldn't get a shot off on the ensuing possession.
