Hooks leads Tulane to 58-41 win over Rice
NEW ORLEANS -- Jay Hook scored 17 points, making 4 of 7 3-pointers, to lead Tulane to a dominating 58-41 victory over Rice Saturday night.
Louis Dabney had 12 points, and Tre Drye pulled down 10 rebounds for Tulane (10-9, 2-2 Conference USA).
Rice led 12-7 with 11:32 remaining in the first half, but Tulane held the Owls to just two more points to take a 28-14 halftime lead. Rice was only 5 of 26 from the field in the first half.
Rice made a run early in the second period to cut the score to 28-25, but a three-point play by Dabney gave the Green Wave a 31-25 advantage at the 15:51 mark. Tulane stretched that to 53-34 with 4:26 remaining.
Tulane was 9 of 22 from beyond the arc.
Sean Obi had 12 points and 12 rebounds to lead Rice (5-12, 0-4).
