UAB handles Texas-San Antonio 78-65
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- C.J. Washington scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as UAB defeated Texas-San Antonio 78-65 on Thursday night.
Fahro Alihodzic added 17 points for UAB (12-4, 1-1 Conference USA), going 7 of 13 from the field. Washington hit 7 of 11 field goals.
Texas-San Antonio (6-10, 2-1) shot just 32.4 percent from the field and had 13 shots blocked. It was the first time since Nov. 16, 2011 that UAB has reached double-digit blocks.
The Blazers improved to 10-0 at home this season, a feat that includes a win against then-No. 16 North Carolina on Dec. 1. UAB has now won eight of its past 10.
Jordan Sims led conference newcomer Texas-San Antonio with 14 points, while Devon Agusi added 13 and Keon Lewis had 12.
The game was the first meeting between the schools.
