Lewis leads Houston Baptist past Rice 73-71
HOUSTON -- Rob Lewis scored 14 of his 16 points in the second half and made all eight of his free throw attempts in the final 2:31 to lift Houston Baptist over Rice 73-71 Wednesday night.
Austin Ramljak scored eight of his game-high 23 points in the final 1:51 to keep Rice in the game but the Owls were forced to foul and Houston Baptist (3-5) made 12 of 12 free throws to hold on for the win.
Ramljak hit 7 of 12 shots from the field, all of which came from behind the 3-point line. Keith Washington added 18 points and Sean Obi had 13 for Rice (3-5).
Marcel Smith scored 16 points on perfect shooting for the Huskies. He made 5 of 5 field goals, including a pair of 3-pointers, and was 4 of 4 from the free throw line. Ricmonds Vilde added 11 points and Cody Joyce had 10.
