Florida International tops Bethune-Cookman 82-67
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Tymell Murphy scored 24 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, leading Florida International to an 82-67 win over Bethune-Cookman on Thursday night.
Bethune-Cookman (2-3) fell behind early as Florida International (6-2) opened the game on a 10-2 run. The Wildcats closed the gap to 30-27 with 3:37 left in the first half on Malik Jackson's layup, but Florida International finished the half on a 11-2 run, capped by Murphy's 3-pointer at the buzzer.
The Wildcats' cut the deficit to five points early in the second half, but Florida International's Marco Porcher Jimenez responded with a 3-pointer and the Golden Panthers led by double digits down the stretch.
Rakeem Buckles scored 17 points and had 15 rebounds for the Golden Panthers. Porcher Jimenez had 14 and Jason Boswell added 13.
Daquan Brown and Ricky Johnson each scored 12 to lead Bethune-Cookman. Jackson added 11.
