Tulane pulls away from Div. II Cedarville 68-58
NEW ORLEANS -- Jay Hook led Tulane with 25 points and 12 rebounds Wednesday to come back from an early deficit and beat Division II Cedarville 68-58.
The Green Waves (4-0) trailed by six with four minutes to play in the first half but a 12-3 run put them up 29-26 at halftime. Cedarville was not deterred after the half, and fought back for a two-point lead with 10:19 left to play. Marcus Reineke led the Yellow Jackets with 19 points.
Despite trailing again, Tulane's Louis Dabney sparked another run (15-2) after hitting seven straight points with 10:16 to play. The Green Waves led the rest of the game.
Cedarville (1-4) shot better from the field (43.9 percent to 39 percent) but was outrebounded 48-24.
The last time the Yellow Jackets faced a Division I opponent in a regular season game was on Nov. 25th, 2003 when they beat Wright State 68-66.
