McMurry edges UTSA 73-71 with 3-pointer at buzzer
SAN ANTONIO -- Will Adams hit a 3-point jumper at the buzzer to lift McMurry to a 73-71 win over University of Texas-San Antonio on Monday night.
Trailing by a point, Alfred Perez set up the game-winner by grabbing the defensive rebound with six seconds remaining and getting the ball to Adams, who fired from beyond the arc with a second remaining to give the Division II War Hawks the win. Adams had hit an earlier 3-pointer and finished 4 of 8 from the field with 12 points and five rebounds.
McMurry's Brandon Golden scored 20 points and snagged 10 rebounds for McMurry, while Kourtney Goff had 17 points and Thiago Randazzo added 15.
The Roadrunners (0-3) led by as many as seven points late in the second half before McMurry closed the gap.
Hyjii Thomas led UTSA with a career-high 23 points and seven rebounds.
