Riley's 30 points leads ETSU past Lipscomb 96-88
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Jalen Riley scored a career-high 30 points as East Tennessee State beat Lipscomb 96-88 Saturday.
Riley, who came into the game averaging 11.2 points per game, made 7 of 12 from the field, 4 of 5 from 3-point range and 12 of 12 free throws. ETSU (14-11, 7-5 Atlantic Sun) shot 61.4 percent (27 of 44) overall and made 35 of 41 free throws. It was the Buccaneers most free throw attempts since a 102-95 win over Lipscomb, in double-overtime, on Feb. 19, 2011, when they shot 43.
With the game tied at 84 and just fewer than 4 minutes to play, ETSU went on a 10-2 run -- including a 3-pointer by Riley that opened up a six-point lead with 2:02 remaining -- to put the game away.
Malcolm Smith and J.C. Hampton each set career-highs with 27 and 22 points, respectively, for Lipscomb (11-13, 6-7).
