Florida Gulf Coast upends Jacksonville 100-71
FORT MYERS, Florida -- Brett Comer scored 30 points and handed out eight assists as Florida Gulf Coast avenged an earlier Atlantic Sun loss to Jacksonville, winning 100-71 on Thursday night and remaining tied with Mercer for first place in the conference.
FGCU (15-9, 9-2) dropped its first conference game of the year against Jacksonville 76-69 but shut-down the Dolphins this time around, shooting an incredible 66 percent (40-61) from the field in hitting the century mark for the first time this season.
The Eagles led 49-31 at the break and Jacksonville could do nothing to stop the Eagle offense in the second period, falling further behind as the game progressed.
Eric McKnight added 22 points and seven rebounds for FGCU and Bernard Thompson contributed 15 points.
Jacksonville (9-14, 5-7) was limited to 37 percent from the floor and was paced by Javon Dawson's 14 points and 12 rebounds.
