North Florida breezes past Stetson 72-61
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Dallas Moore scored 17 points and North Florida used a balanced attack in defeating Stetson 72-61 on Saturday Night.
North Florida (10-9, 4-2 Atlantic Sun Conference) entered the second half leading 34-23. The Ospreys built upon that momentum and took a 61-42 advantage over Stetson (3-14, 1-4) when Moore fed a 3-pointer through the net at 7:11.
The Hatters showed a spark of offense, muscling to within nine points at 3:52 before the Osprey's Chris Davenport put an exclamation mark on his performance in the paint with back-to-back dunks. Moore threw in another jumper and North Florida was up by 16 and breezed to the buzzer.
Charles McRoy notched 16 points and went 8 of 8 from the penalty stripe and Beau Beech scored 14 points for North Florida.
Kentwan Smith was a bright spot for Stetson as he scored a season-high 27 points hitting 69 percent of his attempts.
