Coursey leads Mercer past SC Upstate 62-60 in OT
MACON, Ga. -- Daniel Coursey scored six of his 16 points in overtime and grabbed 10 rebounds as Mercer defeated South Carolina Upstate 62-60 Saturday.
Coursey's second dunk of overtime gave Mercer (11-5, 2-1 Atlantic Sun) a 60-59 lead with 1:43 remaining in overtime. South Carolina Upstate (7-7, 0-1) answered with Ricardo Glenn making one of two free throws to tie the game at 60. Coursey then scored a layup to cap the scoring with 1:02 to play.
Ty Greene missed a 3-point shot with 42 seconds left in overtime, and Torrey Craig missed a layup at the buzzer for SC Upstate.
Ike Nwamu scored a layup to give Mercer a 54-52 lead with 3:09 remaining in regulation. Jodd Maxey answered for the Spartans with two free throws to tie it at 54 with 1:57 to play. After Maxey's bucket, both teams missed two shots from the field to send into overtime.
