Northern Kentucky edges Hampton 69-67 in OT
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. -- Jordan Jackson scored a game-high 21 points, including a game-winning 17-footer with 1 second left as Northern Kentucky defeated Hampton 69-67 in overtime Wednesday night.
Jackson earlier made the back end of a two-shot foul with 41 seconds left in regulation to force the OT at 59-59. Both he and Hampton's Ramon Mercado missed field goals in the final seconds.
The Norse (3-7) scored first in OT on a Jackson free throw, but Hampton (5-6) took the lead four times in the extra period.
With the score knotted at 67, Jackson faked a drive into the lane, pulled up from just inside the top of the key and buried the jumper with less than a second left on the clock for the win.
Hampton's Brian Darden attempted a 40-footer at the buzzer, but the ball hit the rim and bounced to the floor.
Deron Powers led Hampton with 16 points.
