MARTIN, Tenn. -- Twins Martin Smith and Malcolm Smith combined for 50 points as Lipscomb overcame the University of Tennessee at Martin 95-84 Monday night.

The teams traded buckets in the first half with UTM (1-7) leading 17-10 midway of the first period. J.C. Hampton hit a 3-pointer at the 9:45 mark to tie the score at 19. Hampton followed with two free throws and Martin Smith hit a 3-pointer and Lipscomb (3-3) was suddenly ahead 24-19. The Skyhawks made a run to close to 39-38 at the half.

UTM was within one with 3:15 remaining in the game when Myles Taylor made a layup. That was as close as the Skyhawks could come.

UTN took more shots, 62 to 53 for Lipscomb, but the Bisons made 29 of theirs while the Skyhawks made 26.

Lipscomb also hit 45 percent of its 3-point attempts.

Mike Liabo totaled 27 points for UTM.
