Florida International defeats Stetson 75-66
MIAMI, Fla. -- Raymond Taylor had 18 points and seven assists to lead Florida International to 75-66 victory over Stetson Monday.
Jerome Frink contributed 17 points, Dennis Mavin had 13 and Tymell Murphy, who totaled 12 points, had his 35th career game in double figures.
Stetson (0-4), still looking for the first victory for coach Corey Williams, stayed close most of the game, but the hot-shooting Panthers took control in the middle of the second period. Florida International (5-2), which has won five straight games, shot 51 percent from the field. Stetson was only 25 of 66.
A Willie Green layup gave Stetson at 40-39 lead with 14:48 to go. The Hatters remained in front until a Frink layup with 12:47 remaining tied the score 42-42. Taylor followed that with a 3-point jump shot to put the Panthers in front to stay. A Frink layup with 4:36 remaining stretched the lead to 61-49.
