Comer leads FGCU over Eckerd 72-55
FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Brett Comer had 18 points and 8 assists on Monday night to lead Florida Gulf Coast over Eckerd 72-55.
FGCU (3-1) led only 48-46 with 10:54 left in the game before going on a 13-1 run over the next 5 minutes. The Eagles held a double-digit lead from there.
Chase Fieler had 15 points and eight rebounds and Filip Cvjeticanin had 12 points on four 3-pointers. All five of the Eagles' starters scored in double figures.
Eckerd (1-3) opened the second half on a 9-0 run to tie the game 37-37, but Cvjeticanin broke the run with one of his 3s and the FGCU never trailed again.
Alex Bodney led Eckerd with 18 points, but the Tritons struggled from the floor, shooting just 29 percent.
The only time Eckerd and FGCU met previously was in the first round of the 2005 Division II NCAA Championship which Eckerd won 81-79.
