JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- Angelo Warner scored 25 points and had 11 of Morehead State's final 13 as they put away East Tennessee State 71-63 Tuesday night.
The Eagles (2-0) jumped out to an early 7-0 lead, but ETSU stormed back with a 21-3 run and took a 31-25 lead into the break.
Morehead State chipped down at the lead to tie the game at 35 early in the first half and looked to take an edge, but the Buccaneers wouldn't go down easy.
ETSU (0-2) knotted up the score 57-57 on a jumper by A.J. Merriweather, but Warner responded with a layup and a 3-pointer. Rashawn Rembert hit a triple to cut the deficit to two, only to see Warner hit another one from the arc with 4:21 left.
The Buccaneers could only climb back within four as Warner hit three late free throws to put the game out of reach.
