Ashe, LIU Brooklyn tops Mount St. Mary's 75-71
NEW YORK -- Byron Ashe scored 18 points to lead LIU Brooklyn to a 75-71 victory over Mount St. Mary's Saturday.
Julian Norfleet's jumper with 5:06 to play pulled Mount St. Mary's (7-12, 3-3) within three, 64-61, but the Blackbirds got six straight points from Jason Brickman to extend their lead to nine with 2:25 left. LIU Brooklyn made 5 of 6 free throws in the final 38 seconds to seal the victory.
Sam Prescott scored 14 points and Taylor Danaher chipped in with 13 points and five blocked shots for the Blackbirds, who shot 28 of 56 from the field and 18 of 20 (90 percent) from the free throw line.
Glenn Feidanga set career-highs with 15 points and 11 rebounds while Brickman had 14 points, 12 assists and three steals in the loss.
The Mountaineers had 17 assists on 26 field goals, but shot just 39.9 percent.
