Wagner slips past St. Francis (Pa) 56-50
LORETTO, Pa. -- Marcus Burton scored 14 points, including a 3-pointer that helped fuel a second half go-ahead run, to lift Wagner to a 56-50 win over St. Francis (Pa) on Saturday.
Trailing by as much as 13 points in the first half, Wagner (9-9, 3-1 Northeast Conference) took its first lead of the game on a Kenneth Ortiz layup that made it 32-31 early in the second half and then padded it with Burton's trey during an 8-0 spurt, making it 42-34 with 10 minutes to play.
Latif Rivers contributed 12 points for the Seahawks, who now have won 11 of the past 13 matchups against St. Francis.
Both teams struggled offensively, but Wagner made twice as many trips to the foul line, hitting 14 of 18, and held a 43-34 rebounding advantage.
St. Francis (3-14, 1-3) was led by Earl Brown, who scored half of the team's total points.
