Hartford defeats Fairleigh-Dickinson 74-60
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- Evan Cooper scored 18 points and was 4 of 5 from 3-point range and Hartford used a strong second half to pull away from Fairleigh Dickinson 74-60 on Friday night.
Mark Nwakamma had 14 points and Wes Cole added 11 for Hartford (2-2). The Hawks made 56.1 percent of its shots and sank 18-of-25 free throws, compared with just 1-of-6 for Fairleigh Dickinson. It was Hartford's first home game of the season.
In the first half, Hartford trailed by 13 points before starting its comeback. Cole hit two consecutive 3-pointers to put Hartford ahead 44-40 with 13:39 remaining in the second. Mustafaa Jones made a jumper to pull Fairleigh Dickinson (1-2) within five at 58-53, but the Knights made only three more buckets the rest of the way.
Sidney Sanders Jr. led Fairleigh Dickinson with 13 points and Jones added 11.
