Liberty outplays Presbyterian 65-53
LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Tomasz Gielo and John-Caleb Sanders scored 13 points each as Liberty used a balanced attack in defeating Presbyterian 65-53 on Saturday night.
Gielo grabbed eight rebounds for the Flames while Antwan Burris scored 12 points and recorded 10 rebounds.
Liberty (9-12, 3-3 Big South Conference) led at the half 33-31 by outrebounding the Blue Hose 21-8, including an 11-1 advantage on the offensive boards. Liberty out-rebounded Presbyterian 41-18 in the game.
Liberty opened the second half with an 11-2 run to lead Presbyterian 44-35, but then went scoreless for nearly 5 minutes.
Presbyterian, on the other hand, scored only four points in a 10-minute stretch of the second half and trailed by 17 with just under 8 minutes remaining. Liberty coasted to the buzzer.
Presbyterian (4-17, 0-6) remains winless in conference play. They were led in scoring by Jordan Downing's 24 points.
