CULLOWHEE, N.C. -- Tom Tankelewicz scored a career-high 30 points to lead Western Carolina to a 92-84 victory over Charleston Southern.
All of Tankelewicz' points came from 3-point range where he went 10 of 18. Brandon Boggs scored 22 points with two assists and grabbed three rebounds. Trey Sumler chipped in with 18 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, and a steal.
Charleston Southern held a 9-2 advantage early in the first period until Tankelewicz and Boggs began their assault from 3-point territory to help give Western Carolina a 48-40 lead at the break.
The Catamounts (6-7) rarely hit from inside the paint, instead going 20 of 35 from 3-point range overall and 14 of 18 from the line. The win breaks a three-game losing streak for Western Carolina.
The Buccaneers (3-6) were 43 percent from the field and hit 73 percent from the line. Arlon Harper led Charleston Southern with 26 points.
