ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Keith Hornsby scored 16 points to lead hot-shooting UNC Asheville past Presbyterian 74-62 Wednesday night and snap a four-game losing streak.
Jeremy Atkinson added 14 points, and Trent Meyer tallied 10 while Hornsby went 6-of-9 shooting for the Bulldogs (16-14, 9-5 Big South Conference), who converted a season-high 62 percent (31 of 50) from the field.
UNC Asheville scored the game's first 10 points but watched Presbyterian (8-22, 4-11) trim the deficit to 16-13 on a Ryan McTavish jumper with 12:23 remaining in the opening frame. UNC Asheville answered the spurt with a 16-3 run and Presbyterian never threated from there.
The Bulldogs, who led 39-22 at intermission, missed just eight shots (17 of 25) in the first half, compared to a 30 percent (7 of 23) clip for Presbyterian, and grabbed 17 rebounds.
Khalid Mutakabbir scored 15 points and Eric Washington added 13 for the Blue Hose.
