KENT, Ohio -- Chris Evans' jumper at the overtime buzzer gave Kent State an 83-81 victory over Buffalo in a Mid-American Conference game Wednesday night.
The victory was the 16th in a row for the Golden Flashes (16-12, 6-7) at home against the Bulls (11-17, 6-7).
Buffalo was ahead 60-49 with 11:58 left in regulation before Melvin Tabb and Darren Goodson led a 16-4 run that gave Kent State a 65-64 lead.
The Golden Flashes built an 81-76 lead with 1:19 left in overtime before Buffalo tied it with 19 seconds remaining after a layup by Javon McCrea and a 3-pointer by Tony Watson. Watson was fouled on his basket but missed the free throw.
Randal Holt scored 28 points for Kent State. He had 27 when the Golden Flashes defeated Buffalo 80-68 on Jan. 16.
McCrea had 32 points and 15 rebounds to lead Buffalo. He scored 33 in the first meeting.
