HONOLULU -- Christian Standhardinger had 20 points and 13 rebounds as Hawaii defeated Long Beach State 94-73 Thursday night.
Hauns Brereton scored 21 points, leading five players in double figures for the Rainbow Warriors (14-9, 8-4), who roared to a 53-20 halftime lead behind 59 percent shooting.
Hawaii has won four in a row and moved within 1 1/2 games of the Big West-leading 49ers (13-9, 9-2), whose eight-game winning streak ended.
Vander Joaquim scored 18 points, Brandon Spearman scored 16 and Brandon Jawato had 12 points in 10 minutes thanks to three 3-pointers.
Tony Freeland led Long Beach State with 18 points and seven rebounds. Keala King had 14 points, James Ennis had 13 points and six steals and Mike Caffey scored 12 for the 49ers.
Long Beach State has never won at the Stan Sheriff Center in five tries. The 49ers won the teams' first meeting 76-72 on Jan. 12.
