EL PASO, Texas -- C.J. Cooper had 14 points, John Bohannon added 11 and UTEP hit seven of its 10 3-pointers in the second half to secure a 65-53 win over Rice on Wednesday night.
UTEP (13-8, 6-2 C-USA) shot 51.1 percent from the field and had 21 assists as a team. The Miners, which have won seven of their last nine contests, led 35-21 at halftime and led by as many as 19 in the second half.
Julian Washburn scored 10 points and dished out four assists while McKenzie Moore had nine points, seven rebounds and seven assists for UTEP.
Rice (5-17, 1-7) shot 41.2 percent from the floor but was 6 of 17 from beyond the arc. Tamir Jackson led all scorers for the Owls with 12 points, Max Guercy had 11 and Austin Ramljak chipped in with 10.
The Owls have lost 10 of their last 12 games.
