FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Shane Gibson scored 26 points and Sacred Heart shot a season-high 60 percent from the field to defeat Bryant 87-76 Thursday night, snapping the Northeast Conference-leading Bulldogs' eight-game winning streak.
The Pioneers (7-11, 5-2) made 33 of 55 field goals to post their highest point total of the season. Sacred Heart erased an early eight-point deficit to lead 44-39 at intermission, then shot 62.5 percent from the field in the second half (15 of 24) compared to Bryant's 41.9 percent (13 of 31).
The Pioneers pushed the lead into double figures for good with 17:14 left and had a 20-point cushion with 5:25 remaining.
Steve Glowiak added 21 points, Louis Montes had 16 and Phil Gaetano dished out a career-high 11 assists for Sacred Heart.
Dyami Starks scored 28 points, hitting 5 of 10 3-pointers, to lead the Bulldogs (13-5, 6-1), whose eight-game winning streak had been a program best.
