WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. -- Dion Nesmith scored a career-high 21 points as Monmouth handed Fairleigh Dickinson its fourth straight loss, 73-54 Thursday night in Northeast Conference play.
Nesmith hit 6 of 9 from the field and 7 of 8 at the foul line for the Hawks (8-12, 3-4). Christian White added 18 points and Jesse Steele had 12 for Monmouth, which knocked down 50 percent (27 of 54) from the field and 9 of 16 from 3-point range.
Melquan Bolding led the Knights (7-13, 2-5) with 18 points, and Kinu Rochford and Yves Jules had 10.
The Hawks led 38-34 at halftime, then opened the second half on a 20-7 run featuring two 3-pointers each by White and Steele for a 58-41 lead with 12:38 left. Monmouth drained 6 of 9 3-pointers in the half, with White hitting three of his four long balls.
Nesmith scored the Hawks' final 10 points.
