BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Tim Williams had 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Samford held off Western Carolina for a 64-60 victory in a Southern Conference game on Thursday night.
Raijon Kelly scored 10 points, and Clide Geffrard Jr. had seven points and seven rebounds for the Bulldogs (6-12, 4-1), who have won three in a row. Samford also snapped a three-game losing streak to Western Carolina.
Tawaski King led the Catamounts (7-11, 3-2) with 14 points and six rebounds, Brandon Boggs had 13 points and seven rebounds, and Trey Sumler scored 13 points.
Samford shot 7 of 17 on 3-pointers to Western Carolina's 2 of 12, and the Bulldogs outrebounded the Caramounts 33-25.
The score was tied at 37 at the break, but Western Carolina led 49-42 on Sumler's layup 3:40 in. Samford took the lead at 51-49 on Geffrard's layup with 11:38 left and never relinquished it.
