MOBILE, Ala. -- Freddie Goldstein and Antoine Allen combined for 11 points during a key 13-2 run to open the second half as South Alabama dominated the second half to defeat Louisiana-Monroe 71-56 Thursday night.
The Jaguars (9-8, 6-3 Sun Belt Conference) outscored the Warhawks 44-29 following intermission after starting the half with four consecutive field goals. South Alabama shot 62.5 percent (15 of 24) after halftime.
Augustine Rubit was 5-of-8 shooting after halftime, when he accounted for 15 of his 23 points off the bench for the Jaguars. Rubit added nine rebounds, while Goldstein finished with 16 points on 5-of-10 3-point shooting. Allen and Mychal Ammons scored 10 points each.
Marcelis Hansberry led Louisiana-Monroe (3-11, 2-6) with 16 points.
The Warhawks pulled as close as five points four times after the 13-2 run, last at 52-47 with 7:27 left. South Alabama responded with a 9-1 run to pull away for good.
