NORFOLK, Va. -- Deron Powers scored 16 points and tied a career-high with 10 assists to help Hampton hold off Quinnipiac 70-64 Monday night and win its third straight game.
Emmanuel Okoroba added 16 points, Jasper Williams tallied 15 points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals and Du'Vaughn Maxwell chipped in eight points and 10 boards for the Pirates, who have won three in a row for the first time this season.
Williams hit 3 consecutive treys to put Hampton (5-10) ahead 11-3 but Quinnipiac (5-11) closed the gap to 29-28 at the break. The game was tied eight times before Quinnipiac's Dave Johnson evened it at 60-all at the 2:43 mark.
But Powers hit two free throws, then converted a three-point play, sparking a 10-4 run over the final 2 minutes for the Pirates.
Ike Azotam had his second straight double-double for the Bobcats with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
