EASTON, Pa. -- Seth Hinrichs scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lift Lafayette over Navy 64-47 Saturday in the Patriot League opener for both teams.
Tony Johnson and Joey Ptasinski each went 6 of 10 from the field for 14 points for Lafayette (8-10), which has won three straight and five of their last seven after starting the season 3-8.
Lafayette rallied to take its first lead, 17-16, with 6:06 left in the first half. Lafayette closed the half on an 8-2 run, which carried over to the second half, where the Leopards jumped ahead 32-20 3 minutes in.
The Midshipmen (6-11) cut the deficit to 32-30 with 15:44 left to play, but Lafayette outscored Navy 15-2 over the next 5 minutes to pull away. Ptasinski capped the run with a 3-pointer.
Brandon Venturini hit a season-high seven 3s en route to 23 points for Navy.
