SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Chase Fieler made a layup with 2 seconds left in overtime to lead Florida Gulf Coast to a 72-71 victory over South Carolina Upstate in an Atlantic Sun Conference game on Thursday night, snapping the Spartans' four-game winning streak.
The Spartans had tied it a 64-all on Ty Greene's 3-pointer with 20 seconds left in regulation.
Florida Gulf Coast's Bernard Thompson led five double-figure scorers with 19 points, Fieler scored 17, Sherwood Brown had 14 points and 11 rebounds, Eric McKnight chipped in 12 and Brett Comer 10 for the Eagles (12-6, 4-1), who are off to their best start in A-Sun play since joining the league in 2007.
Torrey Craig had 24 points and 14 rebounds for the Spartans (8-9, 2-1), and Greene scored 20 points.
SC Upstate trailed 38-29 at the half but pulled to 53-51 on Babatunde Olumuyiwa's layup with 5:53 left.
