NORFOLK, Va. -- Pendarvis Williams scored 21 points, and Norfolk State started fast and never was threatened seriously in a 74-68 victory over Navy on Saturday.
Malcolm Hawkins had 17 points and Rob Johnson 15 for the Spartans (7-10), who had lost five straight.
Kevin Alter scored 18 points, Dunbar Tillman had 12 and Worth Smith added 11 points and nine rebounds for the Midshipmen (6-10), who have lost four straight.
The Spartans led 17-4 on Johnson's 3-pointer 6:56 into in the first half and 44-22 at the break. Williams and Hawkins scored 14 first-half points each. Norfolk State shot 15 of 24 in the first half, including 9 of 15 on 3-pointers.
Alter made a trey with 8 seconds left to close to 73-68, but Norfolk State was never in trouble.
