HOUSTON -- Ella Ellis scored 26 points and Army defeated Houston Baptist 95-86 on Monday.
Ellis, playing in his hometown, was 15 for 16 from the free-throw line for the Black Knights (7-6). Kyle Wilson scored 24 points and Dylan Cox scored 13 for Army.
The Huskies (4-9) led 36-35 at halftime, but Army shot 62 percent in the second half and outscored Houston Baptist 30-13 in one stretch. Ellis' 3-pointer with 11:53 remaining gave the Black Knights the lead for good at 55-53 during a run of 12 straight points by Army.
Tyler Russell led the Huskies with 24 points. Marcel Smith scored 19 points and Art Bernardi had 17 points and a game-high nine rebounds.
Army next plays Saturday at home against Columbia.
