HAMMOND, La. -- Roosevelt Johnson, who missed last game due to injury, returned to tally season-highs of 21 points and 18 rebounds to lead Southeastern Louisiana past Spring Hill 71-61 Saturday in nonconference play.
Brandon Fortenberry added 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Dre Evans and Jeffery Ricard scored 14 apiece for the Lions (2-8)
Tied at 50 at the 8:49 mark, Southeastern Louisiana scored seven straight points to take a 57-50 lead with 4:44 left to play. Johnson made a free throw and hit two jumpers during the stretch.
Spring Hill (2-13), who counted the contest as an exhibition, made it 57-54 on Alex Looney's jumper at the 3:33 mark, but Johnson answered again with a jumper pushing the lead to five, 59-54 with 3:08 left to play.
The Lions made eight free throws in the final three minutes sealing the victory.
Robert Gipson led the Badgers with 23 points.
