NEWARK, N.J. -- Chris Flores scored 17 points and made the game-winning layup with 1 second left as New Jersey Institute of Technology overcame a poor shooting performance and a 14-point deficit to rally past Army 69-67 Tuesday night.
Ryan Woods added 16 points, including the 3-pointer that tied the game at 67 with 16 seconds to go. The Highlanders (5-4) went on a 7-0 run in the final 1:21, with Daquan Holiday's layup starting the burst.
Tied at 15 at the 5:25 mark, the Black Knights (4-5) closed out the half on a 9-1 run and took their biggest lead at 41-27 with 13:02 left.
Army still led 63-51 with 3:06 remaining when Flores made two layups to start the NJIT surge.
The Highlanders shot 32.8 percent from the field (22 of 67).
NJIT held Army's Ella Ellis, who had back-to-back 23-point games, to 16 points and Andrew Stire added 13 points.
