LIU Brooklyn 88, Hofstra 84
NEW YORK -- Booker Hucks made a 3-pointer with 40 seconds to left and LIU Brooklyn overcame a 16-point deficit in the second half to defeat Hofstra 88-84 on Saturday.
Hofstra controlled the early portion of the second half, taking a 62-46 lead when Adam Savion scored on a driving layup with 12:01 remaining. But the Blackbirds chipped away at the deficit, and eventually cut the margin to four points on a layup by Julian Boyd with just over four minutes to play.
Boyd, who led LIU Brooklyn with 20 points and seven rebounds, tied the game at 80-all on a dunk then followed with a free throw to give the Blackbirds a one-point advantage. The Pride regained the lead at 82-81 on Taran Buie's jumper with 49 seconds remaining, but Hucks answered with a 3-pointer to put LIU Brooklyn (3-4) ahead for good.
Buie finished with 29 points for Hofstra (3-7).
