FARMVILLE, Va. -- Gabas Maldunas scored 19 points and Dartmouth took control in the second half for a 61-53 win over Longwood Saturday in nonconference action.
The Big Green (2-3) trailed 23-19 after a low-scoring first half. But behind Maldunas' play inside and the 3-point shooting of John Golden and Alex Mitola, Dartmouth was in command.
Maldunas shot 8 of 18 from the field. Golden, meanwhile, sizzled from beyond the 3-point arc. He scored 16 points on 6 for 10 shooting. Golden was nearly perfect on treys, making four of five shots from long range.
Mitola, meanwhile, made two of his six 3-point attempts. He finished with 10 points.
The 3-point shooting differential proved decisive. Dartmouth was 22 of 54 shooting overall, including 6 of 14 on treys. Longwood (2-6), meanwhile, went just 3 of 12 on 3-pointers. David Robinson was the only Lancer in double figures with 21 points.
