Hampton Pirates @ Radford Highlanders
Radford 73, Hampton 64
RADFORD, Va. -- Javonte Green scored 22 points and posted a double-double to lead Radford to a 73-64 nonconference victory over Hampton Wednesday night.
The loss left the winless Pirates 0-6. Radford improved to 5-3. For that, the Highlanders can thank Green. He hit his first three shots, scoring 12 of his 22 points in the first half and gave Radford a 39-33 lead at halftime. Radford had led 31-13 before Hampton cut it to six.
Green had help, too. Guard R.J. Price scored 17 points, hitting five 3-pointers. Ya Ya Anderson made his first shot, a 3-pointer, and came off the bench to score 10 points.
Three Pirates scored in double figures. Ke'Ron Brown came off the bench to score 16 points and make eight steals, Deron Powers had seven of his 13 points in the first half and David Bruce added 12.
